The Vintage way to Lose Weight

Here I was, thinking that diet and exercise was the way to lose weight. Turns out, all I needed was to chew some gum. Huzzah!

Have a nice weekend!

Also, until the end of cyber Monday coupon code "pecanpie" gets you 30% off everything in my etsy shop!

  1. IIRC, didn't gum have some addictive ingredient like nicotine (before it was used as an anti-smoking mechanism). That would have certainly acted as an appetite suppressant, plus the fact that nothing tastes nice after eating peppermint!

In some of my vintage housekeeping guides, it recommends gentle exercises while waiting for the kettle to boil or doing the washing/up to help maintain one's figure.

My personal favourite advice is to do your hair and make-up and put on nice clothes before sewing as you will be more productive when you are feeling glamourous! (And when you fit your outfit, you will like it better because you look so nice). Oh for the old ways of the world...

Molly, I love this, thanks for sharing! I'm absolutely going to doll myself up before my next fitting!

  3. LOL! I love this. If only chewing gum really worked...and if only I could look that glam while chewing it! :P

  4. Thank you Anna and Molly! I've always had a sneaky suspicion about chewing gum... My Mum always recommends doing little ballet-inspired leg-lifts to tone her bum while she brushes her teeth.
