Celebrating 500 Followers with a Giveaway!

My lovely readers, imagine my delight when I woke up the other day, took a peak at A Few Threads Loose, and saw that I had reached 500 followers through Google! I know that there are more of you through Bloglovin', bookmarks, and other readers but ever since the blog started to have a regular following, I've always dreamed about hitting that 500 mark!

Welcome to our new followers, (I hope you find the blog useful!) and my warmest thanks to my current readers, especially to those of you who have stuck with me for so long. You all make my life so much richer with your comments, moral support, and friendship.

To thank you all, I would love to do what I love doing the most on this blog: Have a Giveaway!

It's good timing too, because I have just finished my newest pattern for Mrs. Depew Vintage, and one lucky reader will win a copy!

French Knickers Depew 2018
I have recently sewn what feels like a hundred of these little knickers and have really had a blast making different ones in all sorts of styles.

The pattern only takes a couple of hours to sew and is suitable for beginners. It also includes fully illustrated instructions.

The sky is the limit with a simple pattern like this. You can trim the knickers with ribbon, lace, bows or buttons to suit your own style. I've been making mine with a great silk twill from Denver Fabrics and the results are heaven.

Above is the knickers in Kelly green silk twill with silk rose ribbon trim. The matching bra is from a pattern that I'm currently working on as well. It should be out soon!

The knickers pattern includes sizes X-Small through X-Large to fit a wide range of figures.

To enter to win, leave a comment telling me what you would use to make the knickers from. Do you have a favorite fabric? Would you embellish with lace, ribbons etc?

For an added entry, you can do any of the following.  Just leave me a comment to let me know which you've done:

1. Become a follower of A Few Threads Loose on Twitter, Google, or Bloglovin'.

2. Like A Few Threads Loose on Facebook.

3. Like Mrs. Depew Vintage on Facebook.

4. Mention this giveaway on your blog or share it on Facebook.

5. Re-pin the pattern on Pinterest.

I'll announce the winner on March 1st. Good luck, and thanks for reading A Few Threads Loose!

  1. I would make it in black silk... Pretty and chic...

  2. Those are lovely!

Ideally, I'd like to make it from an evenly striped silk in muted colours, to create a chevron in the middle. Since such fabric is hard to come by on my budget I'd probably start with an emerald silk, though, and lace appliqués on the sides.

  7. I already like Mrs. Depew and A Few Threads Loose on Facebook, also shared the giveaway on FB.

I'm in a pastel mood right now, so I'd probably make these up in a light pink or a pale green or pale blue, along with lace. The more lace the better!

  12. Congratulations!

As for the pattern - these are gorgeous. I'm just starting to get results sewing lingerie and would love to get my hands on these. I would make them in a silk charmeuse and experiment with some lace trims I've been hoarding for a while.

I already follow you and will mention you on my blog now.

    Fingers crossed!

  14. Congrats on reaching 500+ followers - of course that many people would love your blog :) Your new pattern is a nice mix of vintage and modern. The modern cut at the waist is just what I need right now. I would love to have a few pairs sewn up for summer sleepwear. And they must be made of silk. I have some silk charmeuse in a chocolate brown that is calling out to be made into something pretty. But after your most lovely blue floral garter belt, I'm also thinking that a summery floral would be divine.

  16. I liked this on FB!!!! And I would make it in deep rose satin, with cream or ecru laces - a narrow one for "body" trim and a wider one for the legs.....and perhaps a few deep rose satin roses about the center front just at the waistband.....oh, yummy.....

  17. I would make them first out of an amazing tangerine silk that has been lurking in my stash, and then from some beautiful Liberty tana lawn. Gorgeous!

  18. Totally do it in orange silk charmuese (and don't know what it says that I have some)with a simple brown bow at the waist. Or a wild large floral with naught placement of the flower parts. I'm weird.

Liked both on FB, and I am supposed to be following on Google.

  32. Hi there. I have never really sewn with slippery silky fabric before, so this would be a good project to try it out! Wouldn't use up too much fabric, in case it did not work. I would likely make them in ivory with a black trim. Or vice versa, depending on which combination I could find. I already follow you on Google and I just began following you in Twitter today! Feel free to follow back, if you like.

  36. Obviously I would have to go shopping for more fabric to make these beauties! Silky fabrics are an easy choice, but I'd like to try some vintage fabrics of assorted materials. What a fun pattern to play with.
