Welcome to our new followers, (I hope you find the blog useful!) and my warmest thanks to my current readers, especially to those of you who have stuck with me for so long. You all make my life so much richer with your comments, moral support, and friendship.
To thank you all, I would love to do what I love doing the most on this blog: Have a Giveaway!
It's good timing too, because I have just finished my newest pattern for Mrs. Depew Vintage, and one lucky reader will win a copy!
French Knickers Depew 2018 |
The pattern only takes a couple of hours to sew and is suitable for beginners. It also includes fully illustrated instructions.
The sky is the limit with a simple pattern like this. You can trim the knickers with ribbon, lace, bows or buttons to suit your own style. I've been making mine with a great silk twill from Denver Fabrics and the results are heaven.
Above is the knickers in Kelly green silk twill with silk rose ribbon trim. The matching bra is from a pattern that I'm currently working on as well. It should be out soon!
The knickers pattern includes sizes X-Small through X-Large to fit a wide range of figures.
To enter to win, leave a comment telling me what you would use to make the knickers from. Do you have a favorite fabric? Would you embellish with lace, ribbons etc?
For an added entry, you can do any of the following. Just leave me a comment to let me know which you've done:
1. Become a follower of A Few Threads Loose on Twitter, Google, or Bloglovin'.
2. Like A Few Threads Loose on Facebook.
3. Like Mrs. Depew Vintage on Facebook.
4. Mention this giveaway on your blog or share it on Facebook.
5. Re-pin the pattern on Pinterest.
I'll announce the winner on March 1st. Good luck, and thanks for reading A Few Threads Loose!
I would make it in black silk... Pretty and chic...
ReplyDeleteThose are lovely!
ReplyDeleteIdeally, I'd like to make it from an evenly striped silk in muted colours, to create a chevron in the middle. Since such fabric is hard to come by on my budget I'd probably start with an emerald silk, though, and lace appliqués on the sides.
I already follow on Google.
ReplyDeleteAnd like A Few Threads Loose on Facebook.

ReplyDeleteI did all the five thing above.
ReplyDeleteI love the pattern.
I would make it in a blue/gold printed silk.Combine it with a little gold picotelastic
I already like Mrs. Depew and A Few Threads Loose on Facebook, also shared the giveaway on FB.
ReplyDeleteI'm in a pastel mood right now, so I'd probably make these up in a light pink or a pale green or pale blue, along with lace. The more lace the better!
I already like you on Facebook (-:
ReplyDeleteI would make it in black or a printed silk with a lace ribbon.
I just won two yards of gorgeous mint green silk in a giveaway. It's crying out to be made into lovely unmentionables.

Thanks and happy 500's followers!
Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteAs for the pattern - these are gorgeous. I'm just starting to get results sewing lingerie and would love to get my hands on these. I would make them in a silk charmeuse and experiment with some lace trims I've been hoarding for a while.
I already follow you and will mention you on my blog now.
Fingers crossed!
I follow you on my pulse reader :)

ReplyDeleteCongrats on reaching 500+ followers - of course that many people would love your blog :) Your new pattern is a nice mix of vintage and modern. The modern cut at the waist is just what I need right now. I would love to have a few pairs sewn up for summer sleepwear. And they must be made of silk. I have some silk charmeuse in a chocolate brown that is calling out to be made into something pretty. But after your most lovely blue floral garter belt, I'm also thinking that a summery floral would be divine.
ReplyDeletei just love this pattern...i would love to make them out of several different fabrics but my first thought is to find some lovely old fashioned flower print voile.....
ReplyDeletei already like you on both of the facebook pages!!!
thanks so much for the chance..
I liked this on FB!!!! And I would make it in deep rose satin, with cream or ecru laces - a narrow one for "body" trim and a wider one for the legs.....and perhaps a few deep rose satin roses about the center front just at the waistband.....oh, yummy.....

I would make them first out of an amazing tangerine silk that has been lurking in my stash, and then from some beautiful Liberty tana lawn. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteTotally do it in orange silk charmuese (and don't know what it says that I have some)with a simple brown bow at the waist. Or a wild large floral with naught placement of the flower parts. I'm weird.
ReplyDeleteLiked both on FB, and I am supposed to be following on Google.
I would make this is a white silk fabric and use some white lace and little white ribbon rose buds to decorate.
ReplyDeleteI like both on Facebook and I follow you on Google.
ReplyDeleteOooh I've been admiring this pattern! I would use gray silk fabric with bright pink accent.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love these knickers and would love to make them. I'd make them in nude colour silk with black trimming. Well, that would be the first pair!
ReplyDeletei would whip up a pair of these out of heather grey viscose jersey and trim them in emerald green lace. keep up the great work - your blog is really inspiring :)
ReplyDeleteoh and i repinned this on pinterest
ReplyDeleteHi there. I have never really sewn with slippery silky fabric before, so this would be a good project to try it out! Wouldn't use up too much fabric, in case it did not work. I would likely make them in ivory with a black trim. Or vice versa, depending on which combination I could find. I already follow you on Google and I just began following you in Twitter today! Feel free to follow back, if you like.
ReplyDeleteI mentioned your wonderful giveaway on Facebook =]

ReplyDeleteBeautiful work!
Obviously I would have to go shopping for more fabric to make these beauties! Silky fabrics are an easy choice, but I'd like to try some vintage fabrics of assorted materials. What a fun pattern to play with.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I'm a fan of A Few Threads Loose and Mrs. Depew Vintage on Facebook. :-)
