Granny knows best...

Does anyone else have a Grandmother who sews? I come from a long line of talented seamstresses (something I strive to live up to) and my Grandmother in particular is the family expert when it comes to sewing. She is a well educated woman and has her Master's degree in Sewing Machine Science. Yes, that is a thing, and yes, it is awesome.

I came across this advertisement today and it made me think of how Grandma knows best, especially when it comes to sewing. I thought you might like it too...

  3. A dress cut at 3pm ready for that evening!? That's FAST! I know it doesn't usually take long to put together a dress, it's the hand finishing that takes a while! I'm impressed ;-)

  5. My Baba (grandmother) is a great seamstress. She used to make matching outfits for herself and my mom when my mom was growing up. She also sewed the curtains in her house and re-apolstered my uncle's boat - all using her trusty Singer! I remember when she would make nightgowns for myself and my sister when we would come for sleepovers - one of my favorite childhood memories. My mom did a little sewing but not much - so it sort of skipped a generation - but it has become a passion of mine.

  6. My nana used to sew loads, and knit - we'd always have a new jumper every winter. Sewing for her and her family was a necessity as they couldn't afford to buy clothes or pay a seamstress. My mum always tells me about various details on her clothes when she was a child, my favourite being a little embroidered lamb on her school jumper. She died several years ago, so unfortunately I can't pester her for advice. My mum hates sewing, so again, it's skipped a generation.
