This is by far the most ambitious multi-size pattern drafting attempt I've ever made, and it's finally done! (Though I may have sacrificed the better half of my eyesight in accomplishing it.
This corselet can either be closed in front with a zipper or hook and eye tape. (boning can be added if you need more support).
The really cool thing is, you can pair it with your favorite bra pattern and with a little tweaking here and there, you could make one of these.... Sigh.

EEeee!! I swear, as soon as I find myself looking for a certain pattern, you post it! I've been searching for a pattern like this for a while and here it is! Okay, my newest sewing thing that I've learned is how to do bound buttonholes. It took some time to figure out but when I did, I was so excited. I called my grandma to ramble on about how luxurious and wonderful a bound buttonhole is. I really don't think I will ever use another style of buttonhole! x
ReplyDeletehiya! oh im soooo excited! the newest thing i have learned in my sewing journey is to sew in general! like no joke, so far i have done all my projects knitted, or crochet. my next venture will be to take my sewing farther and learn to make my own patterns and to sew on my knitting, to combine them!

So, since I am still working on your sew-a-long (which I haulted completely on to work on holiday stuff), the latest thing I learned was about darts.

ReplyDeleteThis is a perfect foundation for a cute outfit! The newest thing I've learned in sewing is to work with fur. I made pom poms for fun with my neighbor who works with fur coats that need repairs.

Hmm, the newest thing I've learned is how to draft a perfectly fitting pencil skirt. I've always struggled with the fit of my thigh-heavy pear shape, so a self-drafted pattern is a must for this style. Oh, I also learned how to do bound buttonholes. The dress was a fail in that the style really didn't suit once I tried it on, but at least I got this useful skill out of it!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fabulous pattern. I've always wanted to make myself a corselette. The newest sewing technique I've learned is how to put horsehair braid in the hem of a full skirt.
ReplyDeleteThe newest thing I have learned is using a rotary cutter to "cut" my time in 1/2 when cutting out a pattern. I hope to win one of your patterns!

ReplyDeleteIts not exactly new sewing technique, but its a new approach to sewing for me. I've decided to finish my inside seams properly so the inside is as nice as the outside.
Oh, and I've also been converted to prewashing my fabric before I sew with it... I know, I'm a bit slow on the uptake :)
The newest thing I learned was how to properly sew a double-pointed dart. Clearly this reveals my novice skills, but I just learned to work from the center and towards the points (thank you Colette Sewing Handbook).

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely pattern! The newest thing I've learned is how to cut with a rotary cutter. I really want to get into quilting so my parents bought me a rotary cutter and mat for Christmas.

ReplyDeleteThe newest sewing thing I've learned is how to do an Italian Three Point stitch.... which is that hand sewing technique seen on much 20's & 30's lingerie that makes those pierced , almost faggotted looking seams .

Grate pattern! The last thing I learned was how to install a lapped zipper.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!!! :D I've been actually contemplating making something similar to that, since I want something to add some support, but isn't too "girdle-like". ;) lol. New thing I've learned? How to add a welt pocket to to a princess seam garment, where the pocket is formed as part of the side-front (which is all-in-one with the center front). It honestly didn't end up as difficult as I had anticipated--hooray! :D

ReplyDeleteWonderful pattern, I drool over patterns like this and have never been brave enough to make one! The latest thing I have learned to do is a fly front zipper. I have always avoided them. Now that I have done one I wonder why I made it seem so difficult!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful is this pattern! The latest thing I've learned to do is use pattern weights rather than pins when cutting out pattern pieces...so far works as well or better, and saves me a lot of time and frustration!
