On my last post quite a few said YES! to my thought that we should do a sew along on lingerie. I really want to show you all that lingerie is not hard, not scary, and a very rewarding sewing project. Like all things small, underwear or bras don't take forever to sew, and are practically instant gratification projects.
I would love to get your votes on what you would like to sew with me, and the pattern with the most votes will be what we tackle as a group. Do you want to sew a bra, panties, tap pants, slip, teddy or camisole? Should we use an inexpensive pdf pattern that will be super easy to find or do we want to use a paper pattern, offered in multiple sizes?
Here are nearly all of the great lingerie patterns that I know about. Most of them I'm very familiar with already. Some of them are pdfs from my shop, some aren't. Some are pricier than others. Please don't feel obligated to vote for one of my pdfs just because. Don't pick the pattern that looks the easiest. Pick the pattern that you think you will feel gorgeous in. Pick something that will make you feel special when you wear it. That's the one you want to vote for. I'll help you with the hard stuff!
Leave a comment to tell me which of these you'd like to sew in the sew-along. I know, there are a lot of them, so we'll narrow it down to 3 in this post, and in the next post you can vote again for your favorite.

And just because this seems to have turned into the largest compendium of lingerie patterns online, you can also look at the following links to help you find the right lingerie pattern for your next project. |
I'd like to try tap panties or a bra; the Pauline set is nice.
ReplyDeleteWhat about a cute cami/tap pants set? I'd be on board for that!
ReplyDeleteHello! I'm a new follower to your blog and I would like to vote for Pauline. My second choice is the Teddy combination.
ReplyDeleteI love the first 1940's Ladies Bra you have listed, but the pauline bra (or set better yet LOL) would be a close second.
ReplyDeleteMost vintage bra patterns won't actually provide support, so I'm rather in favor of a set or a nightie, but I'm definitely interested! The Pauline set is nice, whereas the Cinnamon has the advantage to be multi-size already. It's not in your list, but I'm also very fond of the Folkwear 'intimacies' set from 1929.
ReplyDeleteI just discovered your blog, but I'd be very eager to follow this sew-along!
I already have your 1940s bra pattern but haven't made it up yet so I vote for that.
ReplyDeleteI vote for a Pauline cami or tap pants or the teddies...all look scrumptious!
ReplyDeletePauline tap panties please, but I will participate no matter what pattern is chosen.
ReplyDeleteI would love the Pauline Bra and tap panties!
ReplyDeleteI would love to sew along on any of the Pauline items, with the cami and tap pants at the top of the list.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be a lot of fun!
I would love to do any of the Pauline set - but I'm happy to join in for anything you choose, PDF's would be best though! This will be my first sewalong, hurrah. Although I may need your help in finding suitable material here in Stavanger...
ReplyDeleteGee whizz! Pauline seems to have it, my input was going to be either bra pattern or the Pauline tap panties (lol!), I wonder why we've all fallen for those panties!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to do the Pauline slip / cami or the tap panties. But it's really the slip I love the most. All the bras, whilst very pretty, would be a little overwhelmed by my bazoomas!
ReplyDeleteThe cinnamon! The cinnamon! Or the mini bloomers PLEASE ^^! I'm also very sceptic about the bras. But the slips ans teddies look so good for sleeping in ...
ReplyDeleteI'm really digging the Wearing History 40s brassiere.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I would like to do three, based on level. So the sew-along would start out with something really simple, like the mini-bloomers, then progress to something like a cami, then end with the bra because its the most difficult. If it comes down to just the one though, I vote Nutmeg or Cinnamon. They're garments that most people can get a lot of wear out of, that comes in a lot of sizes - some of the pdfs only come in one which kinda cuts me and the plus-size community out unless you plan on talking about grading lingerie too. Fabric.com also has an exclusive free cami & tap pants set right now - http://www.pages01.net/fabriccom/CupidCamiTapPants?cm_re=SL1-_-crhdqtr-_-Cupid%20Cami
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of sewing a few pieces with the same/coordinating fabrics. . . .(slip, tap pants, bra) Boudoir wardrobe. This would be my first sew along, also. Have loved your blog and the vintage beach top PDFs this summer. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us.
ReplyDeleteI like any of the Pauline Patterns the best. I bet they would feel soo lush in some silk charmeuse.
